Hindustani Classical Music also known as Bhartiye Shāstriya Sangeet evolved in India centuries ago, originated in the ritual use of the seven notes in the chanting of Vedas. Over many centuries a unique system of melodic arrangement evolved, which is known as Raga based music. Hindustani classical music has become popular across the world through the influence of artistes like Ravi Shankar, Ali Akbar Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pandit Jasraj, Bhimsen Joshi and varous other artists.
