Organic Moringa Leaves Powder (Certified Organic by USDA, Control Union and India Organic)
Moringa,
or Shigru, is a mid-sized tree that grows throughout the tropical belt
around the world. It is commonly known as the ‘Drumstick Tree’ due to
its large bulbous base and tapering thin top, appearing like a giant
drumstick stuck in the ground. It forms large spinach-like leaves and
pea-like pods both of which are celebrated universally for their
remarkably high nutritional value and healing benefits. Containing all
essential amino acids in addition to many essential vitamins and
minerals, the leaves of the Moringa tree are used all across the world
to combat malnutrition by providing much of one’s necessary diet in one
easy to grow and easy to cook plant. The nutritional benefits of
Moringa are truly amazing, and it has understandably received great
acclaim both in the scientific and popular communities around the world
for its unique concentration of proteins, vitamins, and minerals. In
addition to containing all essential amino acids, Moringa leaves are
rich in vitamins A, B, and C, and necessary minerals like calcium and
phosphorous. It is popularly noted that “the Moringa leaf bears more
Vitamin A than carrots, more calcium than milk, more iron than spinach,
more Vitamin C than oranges, and more potassium than bananas, and that
the protein quality of Moringa leaves rivals that of milk and eggs”.
Although these claims may seem incredible, they have been verified by
much scientific research as well as use in traditional diets and tonics
throughout the millennia.
As a dietary supplement, Moringa is
in a small class of plants that have become known as ‘superfoods’ due to
their almost unbelievable nutritional benefits. Recent research has
shown that one tablespoon of dried Moringa leaf powder contains 14% of
the protein, 40% of the calcium, 23% of the iron and most of the vitamin
A needs of a child aged one to three. While six tablespoons contain
nearly all of a woman's daily iron and calcium needs during pregnancy
and breastfeeding. Additionally, the seeds are composed of nearly 40%
oil, which is itself very high in essential fatty acids and protein.
Furthermore, in addition to providing great nutritional benefits,
Moringa offers special aid to several common health conditions.
Due
to its highly wet and oleaginous nature, the Moringa tree is cooling in
nature and high in Kapha. Consequently provides great support to Kapha
deficient conditions like arthritis and malnutrition. Taken internally
Moringa leaves help to reduce inflammations of the joints where dryness
and heat are the cause. They provide the body with necessary lubricants
in a cooling medium to reduce swelling and help ease the movement of the
joints. In addition, the high concentration of protein, vitamins, and
minerals support the sexual functions of both genders which can deplete
the body of its essential building blocks. In India, Moringa has been
used for thousands of years to enhance male virility, combating erectile
dysfunction and fatigue due to sexual activity. It has also been shown
to provide general support to women during menstruation and
breastfeeding, providing the body with the extra nutrients needed to
restore milk and rebuild tissues lost during these activities. Moringa
is a remarkable plant that offers nutritional benefits to everyone and
special health support to those suffering from those occasional stresses
that life presents.
