Organic Amla Powder

The mother of all healing fruit, Amla is traditionally known as the nurse for its broadly applicable and powerful healing properties. An ancient Ayurvedic text states, “Amalaki is the best among rejuvenative herbs.” It bears over twenty names and many more uses in traditional healing practices all across Asia. Its healing power clearly suffers no lack of renown. Amla is one of the few tridoshic herbs in Ayurvedic medicine. This means it has the rare quality of balancing all three doshas (Vata, Pitta, & Kapha). This makes Amla benefits one in all weather conditions, all seasons, and all body types. It also renders its useful for a variety of conditions from coughs and colds to respiratory infections and gastro-intestinal complications.
Amla fruit is both generally revitalizing and useful for many specific applications. It is unique in that it bears five of the six tastes, lacking only salt. Amla benefits all three doshas. For this reason it is a central ingredient in the ayurvedic health tonic, Chyawanprash, which itself is regarded as the “Elixer of Life”, and is noted for its rejuvenative, energizing, and immunity boosting properties. In addition, Amla plays a central role in the famous rasayana Triphala, which is a classic cleansing ayurvedic product. Amla’s rare combination of astringent and nourishing qualities make it helpful for the healing and rebuilding of all tissue types. As such it is used both internally and externally to heal any manner of wound or ailment. It is also known to increase ojas, which is the vital fluid from which vigor and immunity flow.
Much research has been done to determine the benefits of Amla. Amla extract has been found to have strong antiviral and antimicrobial properties, and to promote apoptosis, a fancy term for the healthy and efficient recycling of cell tissues by other cells. Amla juice has also been shown to help with gene-modification in bone cells which are involved in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis, also making it a great support in anti-cancer treatments. There are yet more benefits of Amla, it is also useful against inflammation, age-related renal disease, diabetes, and high cholesterol. In addition, it is known to bear a high level of anti-oxidants and tannins. It is even known to contain 3000mg of Vitamin C per fruit in a heat stable form which is not disrupted by processing, that’s as much as two dozen oranges!
Amla is great in all forms, from the fresh fruit to dried powder. It is recommended in Ancient texts that one eat at least one fresh Amla fruit every day to stimulate the immune system and balance digestion, but the powder is great for those to whom the fruit is unavailable. Five grams can be prepared in a tea and taken twice a day as a general tonic to the body. A water decoction mixed in with Ghee is particularly supportive of the immune system and general vitality of the body. As a paste applied to the head Amalaki relieves headaches and soothes anxiety. The fresh fruit is also made into a wonderful Amla candy that is both tasty and good for your health.
There are also many benefits of Amla for hair. Amla shampoo and Amla hair oil thoroughly clean and rejuvenate the hair, penetrating deep into the roots to stimulate the activity of the hair follicles. Amla oil is also good for the skin, and brings all Amla’s benefits directly to the surface of the body, cleansing and nourishing the epidermis. Of all hair oil Amla is one of the most cleansing and revitalizing to the skin and the scalp. However, the benefits of Amla for hair are not missed out on when Amla juice is taken internally. *************** About Gopala Ayurveda: The Hindi meaning Gopala is ‘The Nurturer of the Cow’. The cow is an auspicious blessing from Mother Earth for the good of all humankind. They who care for the blessings which our Mother has given us, care for the Mother herself. It is through this care that the bountiful provision which is our inheritance is enjoyed, preserved and multiplied for ourselves, our children and generations to come. This is our deepest desire and purpose: that all humanity may have life and have it more fully. Our name in every way reflects this desire and the means by which we propose to pursue it. It is for this reason that we use only 100% organically grown, harvested, and processed herbs in our products, support sustainable economics, and endeavor to continue the millennia old tradition of natural and holistic science. The roots of Gopala Ayurveda reach deep into the rich and ancient naturopathic tradition of Ayurveda. Utilizing the wisdom of this four thousand year old science with the technological potential of modern science we render these ancient formulations in a potent form, all the while maintaining faithful adherence to the formulae and therapies of the ancient texts. To this end, we have spearheaded research to develop Ayurveda’s vast herbal tradition into a comprehensive range of products to support healthiest and longest lives for our customers. These products have been met with warm reception in medical communities all over the world, and continue to serve the personal and healthcare needs of all parts of humanity. Gopala is a pioneer in purely organic ayurvedic supplements, herbs, and oils. We promote healthy foods and nutritional products, and despite utilizing the benefits of modern science and technology, we train a strict eye on all stages of development and processing to be sure that our products do not suffer contact with any toxic or synthetic chemicals. Since the birth of this project, we have focused on the development of safe and effective remedies that will help people lead richer and healthier lives. Gopala is not simply organic, which means to be free from any chemicals, pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, artificial additives, preservatives, and heavy metals, but we are 100% Certified Organic, meaning that the customer has the added security of the USDA regulatory action which requires that all ingredients in all products be traceable through their processing history and to the place of origin. Consequently, the consumer may know both exactly where and when each herb came from and the circumstances surrounding this journey to their hands. Gopala is unique in this regard. Other manufacturers, having claimed proprietary rights to ancient formulae have taken the liberties of enhancing these revered concoctions with preservatives, synthetic substitutes, and more. We, however, continue this venerable tradition as it has been maintained for thousands of years, in the sole interest of a whole and healthy life. We at Gopala Ayurveda invite you to browse our website’s many products and informative articles and Allow us to serve you and your community with the bounty of Mother Nature!
