Vanshlochan Churna (also known as Banslochan Churna, Tabasheer or Bamboo powder) is a well-known natural source of minerals and silica obtained from nodes of the female bamboo trees. It goes with the botanical name Bambusa arundinacea and is found only in Asian countries such as India where the temperature and humidity are ideal.

It is used in several ayurvedic formulations as a stimulant, coolant, sweet tonic, aphrodisiac, expectorant and to heal peptic ulcers. It has a restorative effect on body tissues and is known to boost the respiratory immunity.

The bamboo plant has extensive medicinal usage. The leaves and the milky inner bark of the plant, called VAMSHA ROCHANA or bamboo manna, have strong anti – Pitta properties that help conditions of lung weakness. It also stops bleeding and clears fever and cough.

Vanshlochan is a rejuvenative for the lungs and an all—purpose moistening expectorant like comfrey root. With heating diaphoretics, it forms the basis for some of the major anti-cold and cough formulas in Ayurvedic medicine. At the same time, it is nourishing and helps increase vigor and strength for recovery from chronic diseases and for tissue-deficiency. It nurtures the heart and soothes the nervous system. It relieves thirst and anxiety and improves the blood.
