Ayurvedic Energetics: V=P-K- Lodhra is a potent Ayurvedic herb used to improve digestion and to firm the body. It is used to improve absorption of nutrients in the colon as well as water and fat throughout the body. These actions are used to help combat diarrhea, water retention and to some degree obesity. Lodhra has long been used to mitigate inflammation which improves the complexion and is helpful for hemorrhoid. LODHRA is an important astringent and menstrual regulator and a significant Ayurvedic haemostatic, much like Manjistha (Indian Madder). It helps prevent miscarriages and strengthens the fetus. Lodhra is found in many Ayurvedic women’s formulas. A tea made of equal parts Lodhra and Sandalwood is good for excessive menstrual bleeding. The herb is found in many Ayurvedic tooth powders as well. A mouth wash made of a teaspoon of Lodhra powder with a pinch of Alum is god for receding gums and sensitive teeth.
